"One of the worst economic crisis of our history."The country is going through loss. Loss is seen in how the government importing everything instead of buying Venezuela made items. The country is getting poorer while the corrupt government makes more money. Buying luxury items is no longer something that you can do. Nobody has any money. The only money people have they spend on food where they wait hours in line. They have lost the right to do what they want because if they fight for what they want they could end of being one of the 25000 people who died during riots. The media is trying to hide the corrupt society but the people can see the corruption everywhere.

You make some really good points about the loss portrayed by the government insistence of importing items, while the government officials seemingly get richer, at the cost of the country and its people. The feeling of loss, seemingly was portrayed the video, as most of the country lost everything that they had under Hugo Chavez's, the former president, reign before the riots took place. The government can also show loss, of how they have lost the powers that a government would have if they had the support of the people, such as the ability to combat crime among other things. It seemed both sides were portraying loss, and each side shares a collective guilt to the other side, as their loss created a loss for the other side, in the case of the students, the students started to protest/riot, which in turn hamper the government's ability to handle crime effectively.
ReplyDeleteYou cover many different kinds of loss in this blog, and you make the point that there has been loss in terms of both money and lives. But what did they lose in the beginning that got them into this mess? They had to have lost something or else they wouldn't have been angry enough to start protesting.
ReplyDeleteHey, in the beginning the country lost trust in their leader. He was very corrupt and the country could see him for what he was. They were also going through a time were unemployment was high. The country blamed this on their leader again because he liked to import goods from country's like America instead of having his people make them.
